We had the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica recently. Specifically, we were in the Guanacaste region to the north. what an amazing area. Wildlife everywhere you look. The weather cooperated and the locals were great.
Here are just a few of the pics I took.
A beautiful place and awesome trip. The only downside was the lack of surf, so no surfing pics π
I thought it was about time to re-share one of my favorite recipes. It is amazing…and easy to make.
It’s Time to Dine.
Ok. Something a little less heavy and non-political. A BBQ Shrimp recipe!
First, some folks keep the heads on the shrimp. Not me. Peel them suckers and pinch off dem heads. Second, ALWAYS cook the shrimp in the sauce. DO NOT boil the shrimp and cover them later with the sauce. Trust me on this. Third, have plenty of paper towels on hand. Again, you really need to trust me on this one. Ok lets go. First off you will need the following: 4 pounds of Peeled large fresh shrimp 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup chili sauce 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 2 lemons sliced 4 cloves of garlic, shopped 2 tablespoons of a good creole seasoning ( i know how rare this can be in some parts of the uncivilized world, but find some. its worth it.) 2 tablespoons lemon juice 1 tablespoon chopped parsley 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon oregano 1 teaspoon ground red pepper 1/2 teaspoon Tabasco (or more). no sub here, its the law ! And French Bread to pour it all over.
Spread the shrimp in a shallow aluminum foil-lined broiler pan. Combine butter and everything else in sauce pan over low heat, stirring until butter melts. Add more tabasco and red pepper if you like, lo taste. Pour over shrimp. cover and chill for 2 hours, turning it all over every 30 minutes or so. Bake, uncovered, at 400 for 20 minutes, turn over once then serve over the French Bread. Cheβ its GoodYeah
Her friend Louise just called with the news. It appears she may have had a mild stroke and was sent to the hospital. Louise was with her at the end. She and Louise were best friends and co-workers as hospice nurses.
Any time a person passes away it sad but sometimes itβs also a relief. Just to know she is no longer suffering through dementia.
Volunteering with GBGRR can be challenging but always rewarding .
On Sunday, we were asked to pick up an older Golden from an elderly couple that would soon be entering skilled nursing and could not take their girl with them.
Haley
An emotional goodbye when the time came to take her to her foster home in Houston but the owners knew this was for the best.
Taking a short break along the way
One we arrived at the fosters home, Haley settled right in. The folks at GBGRR will see she gets the best home and additionally the medical care she needs for a torn ACL.
I found this post from my dad about growing up in the ’30s and the barber shop his dad operated.
I could be mistaken, it’s been a lot of years now but I think my first hair cut was at Papa Jacks. If not the first, I can definitely remember getting a trim there. Like my father, I now have very little need for a barber π but its nice to remember.
today, I saw a young girl on the street corner near local Catholic Church holding a sign that said honk if you love Jesus and crawfish. I did and I do.
